Rob Shoraga and Ryan Waugh, the new operators of Mulligans and More at 231 Madigan Dr.ive, perch atop part of the mini-golf course. The park will open for business Thursday with mini-golf and batting cages. Shoraga and Waugh have lots more plans for the park’s future, including kids’ dart leagues, a kids’ pool league, softball tournaments, mini-golf tournaments, a paintball course and a go-kart track.

LINCOLN -

Putters, rejoice.
The mini-golf course at 231 Madigan Drive will reopen Thursday. The facility, formerly Abe’s Family Park, is now called Mulligan’s and More.
The batting cages also will reopen Thursday, and an official grand opening takes place Friday, the Fourth of July.
Rob Shoraga and Ryan Waugh, both relative newcomers to the Lincoln area, are the new operators of the park. The two men are dedicated to providing opportunities for area youths.
Shoraga is a native of the small town of Cowden.
“As a kid, we always had to travel 30 miles to do anything fun,” he said. “ … My main goal is to see kids take a right path in life. I’m hoping with some of the events we have planned at the facility, we are able to be great role models and give the kids and adults something to enjoy.
“We do plan on many changes,” he said. “A lot of promotions, etc.  We are wanting to give kids and adults something fun to do year-round.”
Shoraga, a disabled veteran, served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years, including tours of duty in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He moved to Lincoln about a year ago to be closer to his mother and step-father. He is the single father of a 10-year-old son.
Waugh is from the Effingham area. He will be moving to Lincoln with his soon-to-be- wife, Trica Roth. Waugh, like Shoraga, is interested in helping today’s youths achieve their goals.
Waugh also has a passion for small communities, and has participated in many festivals and parades. He has been a volunteer firefighter for two years in Watseka and also is an Army veteran and father of three children.
Shoraga and Waugh plan to build volleyball courts and horseshoe pits at Mulligan’s and More in the near future. Plus, they’ll host birthday parties, kids’ winter dart leagues, a kids’ pool league, softball tournaments and, of course, mini-golf tournaments.
The two men also hope to add a paintball course and go-kart track someday.
Some things, though, will stay the same. The batting cages will offer slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball and baseball, and the meticulously designed mini-golf course will still boast 18 holes of water hazards, sand traps, slopes and rock obstacles.
The facility first opened in May 2005 under the ownership of Greg “Haji” Patel. Patel designed the mini-golf course, the park’s crowning feature, to offer challenges to all ages.
Shoraga and Waugh have secured a three-year lease from Patel and have been working for several weeks to get the park in tip-top shape.
Unfortunately, they didn’t have time to get the permits for a fireworks show for Friday’s grand opening. But that won’t stop them from celebrating both Friday and in the future.
“Hopefully, next year we can have this in place and have a lot of events organized,” Shoraga said. “Being a veteran, Fourth of July is my favorite holiday next to Christmas.”
All veterans will receive $2 off on 18 holes of miniature golf on the Fourth, and people can get a “Buy one get one free” coupon in The Courier.
Tentative hours for Mulligan’s and More will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. The park will be closed Monday for private parties.
